"Constitutionally, their tenure expired after three years in office. My concern always is the local government responsibilities and accountabilities, " he said.
Arc. Emuan frowned at the shrinkage of official responsibilities and lack of service-delivery culture, unlike the independence era in Nigeria. Their viability, sustainability and survival are also in doubt if not corrected. Arc Emuan observed that most local governments would collapse, if they do not receive regular allocations from the federal government in one year because they lack the spirit and mechanisms to generate funds professionally.
He further revealed that apart from under-funding, other challenges include identity and role crisis, constitutional crisis, poor administration, lack of economic viability, and inept council bureaucracy. But, assured the people of edo state that if he is elected as the next governor, he will position them for effective performance so that they can satisfy local yearnings at all times.
